Book Haul (#1) – Too many exciting titles

Book Haul

IMG_0091

This has been an exceptionally special week for my shelves. I decided to buy some of the books at the top of my TBR pile in paperback instead of on my Kindle like I normally do… Not only did I buy paperback books a couple of days ago, but a big and very exciting package (ha ha) arrived in the post this weekend. Needless to say, my shelves are looking beautiful and I can’t help but smile when I look at them. 🙂

Extremely exciting, really

I wasn’t playing around this week. I ordered some titles that I’ve been so excited to read; Six of Crows, The Wrath & The Dawn, An Ember in the Ashes, to name a few. The hype around some of these books has got me expecting some amazing stories. I’m ready to be blown away, people.

I’m still waiting for one more book to arrive, so unfortunately it’s not in the beautiful family picture above (and obviously I was too far excited to postpone this post). Uprooted by Naomi Novik is the book I’m still waiting on, and perhaps the most curious to read:

So, what about those books?

  1. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
If you haven’t heard about this book then you probably live under a rock or something (I’m kidding, of course). The hype around this book is insane and it’s supposed to be the next big thing in YA high fantasy. And some of you may not believe in the hype, but I believe in the hype. The hype is real. JUST READ THE SYNOPSIS, how can this not tingle your awesomeness senses?! So yeah, basically I’m ridiculously excited to read this!

  2. The Wrath & The Dawn by Renée Ahdieh
I’m so excited about this. It’s a retelling of A Thousand and One Nights, which to be totally honest I know nothing about (maybe I’m the one that lives under a rock after all), but this makes me doubly excited to read it. I’ll probably have some pronunciation issues with the names, in particular Shahrzad, but I’m ready for my Arabian adventure.

  3. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
A dystopian story inspired by Ancient Rome, with magic involved? Say no more and sign me up!

  4. Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen
A book about witches and trolls. Trolls. How cool???

  5. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
This book has been on my TBR list for ages now, and the time has come to finally read it! I’ve heard amazing things about it.

  6. The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury
I found out about this one randomly, and although I haven’t heard super great things about this book, I’m still excited to read it. It’s got just under a 3.5 star rating on Goodreads, so I’m fulfilling my goal to read more books with lower ratings.

  7. The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
I’m expecting some serious high fantasy with this book. It’s also supposed to become a movie starring Emma Watson, so that is going to be awesome (even if I’m not her biggest fan).

  8. Uprooted by Naomi Novik
This book has got me very curious to read it – it seems really unique and from what I’ve read in reviews it’s a beautiful story. The main characters name is Agnieszka, though. Agnieszka. How do I even say that? What is up with all of these character names lately?
